Summary

Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) in Dubai, UAE, is seeking a full-time Financial Auditor to conduct operational, compliance, financial, and investigative audits of intermediate complexity while providing management advisory services. The role ensures internal controls, financial transactions, and operational processes are effective, efficient, and compliant with laws, regulations, and institutional policies.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and implementing the annual internal audit plan based on risk assessments and strategic objectives
• Conducting operational audits to evaluate internal controls, resource utilization, and process efficiency
• Preparing periodic audit reports with findings and recommendations
• Following up on audit observations to ensure corrective actions are implemented
• Reviewing financial policies and procedures for compliance
• Identifying risks, inefficiencies, and areas requiring management intervention to prevent fraud
• Evaluating costing and pricing structures and reviewing business proposals
• Coordinating with external and government auditors
• Auditing payment processes, salary payments, revenue generation, cash, inventories, and fixed assets
• Analyzing financial records for IFRS compliance
• Participating in tender committee reviews and evaluating insurance policies

Requirements include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CIA, or equivalent certification preferred
• Proven experience in financial and operational auditing, preferably in an academic or public institution
• Strong knowledge of auditing standards, IFRS, and internal control frameworks
• Proficiency in spreadsheet and financial analysis software
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly in both Arabic and English
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
• Knowledge of applicable laws and institutional policies
• Ability to supervise and train staff
• High level of integrity and attention to detail
