Father of Hamas hostage embarks on hunger strike, protests with family members outside Netanyahu’s home

Relatives of hostages held by Hamas have protested outside Benjamin Netanyahu’s home over the apparent lack of progress in getting the more than 100 captives home.

A group representing the families said they had “begged for 105 days” and now demanded that the government take bold steps to free their loved ones.

Protesters camped on the street overnight, held photos of the hostages, waved Israeli flags and chanted “bring back now” after reading aloud each captive’s name.

Among them was Eli Shtivi, the father of a 28-year-old hostage Idan, who yesterday began what he called a hunger strike until the prime minister agreed to meet with him.

He pledged to eat only a quarter of a pita each day to show how little food some hostages were reportedly given on some days.
