The father and ex-husband of the hostages freed by Hamas says they both seem well after speaking to them following their release.

Uri Raanan spoke to reporters in Illinois after he shared a phone call with his daughter Natalie who has been held along with her mother Judith buy the militant group in Gaza for almost two weeks.

He said the pair both appear to be “good” following their release and they had been treated “well”.

Mr Raanan said: “I have been waiting for this moment for two weeks. I haven’t been sleeping

“I spoke with my daughter she looks good, she sounds good, she wants to come home.

“Next week is Natalie’s birthday and we’re going to celebrate here.

“I’m going to hug her it will be the best day of my life.”

He said the pair are expected to return to the US early next week.
