Lane Community College’s Office of Academic Affairs has begun the search for a Dean of Humanities. The Humanities Division offers writing, literature, communication, and language courses to meet the academic goals of Lane’s students. The division comprisesLanguage StudiesCommunication Studies, and Writing and Literature. Course offerings include composition, creative writing, technical writing, literature, film as literature, Spanish, Chinuk Wawa, American Sign Language, French, interpersonal communication, group communication, professional communication, cultural communication, and public speaking. The wide variety of courses helps students develop a full range of expressive, interpretive, creative, and communicative skills.

The purpose of this position is to fulfill the functions of division leadership and administration in a manner that promotes the quality of student learning, fiscal sustainability, collaboration with other college programs, staff development, and alignment with the College’s strategic directions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Language Studies, Linguistics, Writing Studies, Rhetoric and Composition, Communication Studies, English, Literature, Comparative Literature, Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in a humanities discipline, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible administrative, management, and/or leadership experience in higher education.
