Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania have agreed on a plan to speed up Ukrainian grain exports, according to officials.
Grain inspections will be moved from the Ukraine-Poland border to a Lithuanian port on the Baltic Sea, Ukraine’s farm ministry said in a statement on its website.
It said the move will “speed up transit through Poland” but did not provide further details.
Food exports can reach the rest of the globe from the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda, where inspections for pests and plant diseases will take place from tomorrow.
Though the aim of the deal is to expedite Ukrainian grain exports, it may also help to soften tensions between Warsaw and Kyiv after Poland extended a ban on imports from Ukraine.
