D’Banj Marks 8 Years Since Son’s Death with Emotional Tribute

Nigerian singer and songwriter Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’Banj, has paid tribute to his late son, Daniel Oyebanjo III, eight years after his death in a swimming pool accident.

Daniel, fondly known as Daniel D3rd, died in 2018 at the age of 13 months at the family’s residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.

In a post on his X account on Thursday, the singer shared photographs capturing cherished moments with his son and expressed how much he misses him. D’Banj also said his family had found a safe space to heal from the loss, describing Daniel as their “star boy” and expressing confidence that his son would be proud of how far they had come.

“I miss you Daniel D3rd, my son, and trust me, I can’t imagine how your mother feels, but we are in a safe space now. THANK YOU… Omo Baba Eh, our family’s star boy,” he wrote.

The singer has previously spoken about how his faith helped him cope with the loss. D’Banj married his wife, Lineo Didi Kilgrow, in June 2016. The couple welcomed Daniel in May 2017 and have since had two more children, a son and a daughter.
