David Villa Talks On His Rumored Return To Valencia.

Former Valencia striker David Villa has expressed doubts that he still has a future with the Spanish club Valencia although the question on his possible return has always been there.

Villa, who was the top scorer at Euro 2008, spoke to Super Deporte. He admits having love and respect for Valencia but quickly added that a return to Los Che is highly unlikely.

“It is difficult,” the 34-year-old said after being questioned about the rumour.

“Whenever I talk to my former team-mates the questions are always the same, but I think it’s very complicated due to my contract in America.

“Valencia is a club for whom I have much love and appreciation, I hope they can turn their season around.”

The former Spain international enjoyed a successful spell with Los Che between 2005 and 2010. He has a record 107 goals in 166 league appearances for the club.

Villa, who played for Barcelona between 2010-2013 before joining Spanish rivals Atletico Madrid, has been a New York City FC player since 2015.

On 1 June 2014, Villa announced that he would leave Atletico for what he called “an irresistible project”, but he did not reveal the lucky club’s identity. The following day, he was announced as the first player for the newly formed New York City FC, who would start playing in the 2015 season of Major League Soccer (MLS).

He was handed the number 7 shirt on arrival, and stated, “I want to try to help MLS continue to grow and try to make New York City become the best team in the league.”
