The 31st Annual Philadelphia Caribbean Carnival, a part of PECO’s Multicultural series, will hold on 20 August, 2017 between 12 noon and 8pm, the organizers have confirmed.
Celebrants gathered in Fairmount Park on 15 July (Father’s Day) to observe the event in a pomp of flaming colors.
The artistic celebration of Caribbean culture reached its peak with art exhibitions, music, dancing and colorful costumes, aimed at sensitizing Philadelphians.
People from different backgrounds attended the carnival to celebrate International culture and art.
According to the Philadelphia Carnival’s official website, “the mission of the event is to serve as an advocate and educational resource dedicated to engaging people of all backgrounds and ages in exploring and experiencing how Caribbean Art and Culture affect their lives; and to inspire youth to become innovators and future proponents of their Caribbean heritage both here and abroad.”
The Participating countries are: Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Haiti, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Panama, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, United States Virgin Islands, Saint Lucia, and Puerto Rico.
