Fashion retailer Mango has warned customers to look out for suspicious activity after “limited” data was stolen in a cyber attack.
Hackers gained access to customers’ personal contact details, including email addresses, first names, telephone numbers and postal addresses, that were being used in company marketing campaigns.
Credit cards, banking information, passports and login credentials had “under no circumstances been compromised”, the company wrote in an email to customers on Wednesday, the Retail Gazette reported.
Customers are able to continue shopping safely through the Mango app, website and stores after the company immediately activated its security protocols, the retailer said.

“We are issuing this communication as a precaution and recommend that all our customers pay attention to any suspicious communications or requests for unusual actions, whether by email or phone,” Mango’s email to shoppers said.
“Mango operations and company systems are unaffected.”
The firm, which was founded in Barcelona, says on its website that it is focused on “building a technological ecosystem of experiences, services and products by developing technological tools and systems to maximise our understanding of customer data”.
A number of major retailers have suffered cyber attacks in recent months, including Harrods and M&S.
