A man has been held accountable for the murder of a young Chinese girl in Australia.

The Australian Police reportedly arrested and charged the 27-year-old man alleged to have killed Leng Mengmei.

Leng, a recent graduate from the University of Technology Sydney, was murdered after disappearing from a shopping trip last Thursday.

The suspect is believed to be known to the victim.

Australia’s ABC News and UK’s Daily Mail reported the 27-year-old man has been identified by local police as Leng’s uncle.

Police say 25-year-old Leng was found with multiple stab wounds in her neck, and they believe she suffered a violent attack before her body was dumped.

Leng’s disappearance had attracted serious attention among the Chinese community in Australia, before her body was found at Snapper Point, an isolated area frequented by tourists and rock fisherman.

The Australian Consulate-General in Chengdu has confirmed Leng’s mother arrived in Sydney on Friday, and a visa application for her relatives is being processed.

Leng, also known as Michelle in Australia, was from Chengdu – one of the most beautiful places in China.
