Several Chinese-funded companies operating in Venezuela have mobilized emergency relief operations after two powerful earthquakes struck the country, Xinhua learned Friday from the Chinese Embassy in Venezuela.
The enterprises responded swiftly to the disaster and, under the embassy’s coordination, worked alongside local Chinese communities and business associations to participate in relief efforts, according to the embassy. Their contributions include providing heavy machinery and medical supplies, as well as deploying rescue teams to the affected areas. The embassy noted that the companies are playing an active role in the disaster response through concrete action.
Meanwhile, the Chinese government and the Red Cross Society of China will provide emergency humanitarian aid to Venezuela respectively, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun told a regular press briefing on Friday. Guo emphasized that China stands ready to offer further support to Venezuela as the situation continues to develop.
