About 5,000 fans are expected to watch the 2018 World Cup Group 2 qualifying match between Syria and China at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Krubong on 13 June, 2017.
Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) deputy president Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi said over 3,000 tickets had been sold online so far for upcoming match which kicks off at 10pm.
“Tickets went on sale at 10am today and will continue until tomorrow. The tickets are sold at RM80 for grandstand and RM40 for open seating,” said Mahadi at a press conference.
“We have estimated that more supporters from China will come to see the match although the Hang Jebat Stadium is the ‘home ground’ for Syria.”
Mohd Yusoff, who is also Melaka Stadium Corporation chairman, thanked the Syrian team for choosing the stadium as their own turf since it would promote the state to the world via football.
In today’s matches, Qatar will play against South Korea while Thailand battles the United Arab Emirates for a spot in FIFA’s global football tournament scheduled in Russia next year.
