Carvajal: ‘Real Madrid Are Like Spartans’.

Dani Carvajal describes Real Madrid as Spartans, explaining that he and his teammates fight without fear or loss of hope until the end, each time they face opponents on the pitch. The player’s last minute effort guaranteed victory for Los Blancos in the 3-2 win against rivals Sevilla and the European Super Cup.

The 24-year-old Spaniard scored with just one minute left on the extra time in Trondheim.

Football Espana quotes Carvajal in his own words:

“The essence of Real Madrid is that you must never give up,” the right-back told Antena 3 after the game.

“A goal after 90 minutes and one at the end of extra time made us champions.

“I stole the ball and saw the space. I pushed forward and ultimately scored.

“It was important in a game where we spent almost the entire second half chasing [Sevilla].

“[Talking about a number of players who were sidelined from the game due to injuries] We have a very large squad.

“Our homegrown players have a lot of enthusiasm and desire to contribute to the team and today everything went well.”
