After two record-breaking days of heat across much of the UK, tomorrow’s forecast offers only slight relief.
Cloud and a developing easterly flow will see temperatures fall tomorrow from the highs seen today, the Met Office said.
The highest temperatures will be found in southwest England, where 32C to 33C could be on the cards.
Beyond tomorrow, the heatwave is forecast to continue with highs of 32C on Thursday around London and the East Midlands.
On Friday, temperatures could reach 30C in London and East Anglia and Saturday is predicted to hit 29C in London and Kent.
By Sunday, the warmest air is expected to have shifted to the south, though temperatures will remain mostly above the average for the time of year in the UK.
Met Office chief forecaster Andy Page said the “late-spring heat is set to continue for much of this week”.
He added:
“Last night provisionally recorded the warmest May night on record, and we’re likely to see further very warm nights in the south over the coming days.
“There is a chance a few places will experience a ‘tropical night’ in the south of England and in Wales tonight, which is where temperatures don’t fall below 20C.”
