Brighton are trying to sign right-back Costinha from Olympiacos.

The 26-year-old is a player the south coast club have been closely following for some time.

Brighton have identified the right-back position as one of their main areas to strengthen in the summer.

34-year-old Joel Veltman is out of contact at the end of the season and is likely to leave the club. 

It’s understood talks are taking place. Costinha has represented Portugal at Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level and featured in the Champions League this season with Olympiacos.

Brighton signed forward Charalampos Kostoulas from Olympiacos last summer for a fee in the region of £30m.
