Belfast International Airport issues flight warning

Belfast International Airport has warned some flights could be delayed today due to Storm Isha.

Customers have been urged to contact their airline for the latest information.

“Flights are operating this morning but due to disruption by Storm Isha they could be subject to delays,” it said.

It comes after air traffic control restrictions were put in place yesterday, leading to flight cancellations and causing some planes to divert.

A flight travelling from Sharm el Sheikh to Glasgow Airport declared an emergency due to Storm Isha, landing at Manchester instead.

“Due to adverse weather conditions across the UK, temporary air traffic restrictions are in place. Restrictions of this sort are only ever applied to maintain safety,” National Air Traffic Services said.
