Spanish football giant Barcelona have reportedly taken a different stand on what they said earlier regarding Neymar’s contract. The club has finally agreed to pay him more than €15m per season.
AS says Neymar’s camp was asking for around €20m-a-year while Barca thought that was ridiculous even when compared to what Messi earns.
For this reason, the management insisted the forward won't get anything more than €15m, but by adding bonuses to the terms of his deal the Brazil forward will now reach his desired pay packet in his new six-year contract.
There are speculations that Barca have paid incurred huge expenses to keep Neymar at Camp Nou, thwarting other attempts from big clubs to snatch the superstar away.
Having renewed Neymar’s future in their favor, the official announcement could possibly be announced today June 30, when President Josep Maria Bartomeu holds a Press conference at Noon.
FootballEspana said, “Bartomeu last week sent general manager Raul Sanllehi to Brazil to speak directly with Neymar and his representatives as he was concerned over the delay to finalizing the player’s renewal and Sanllehi’s presence has reportedly brought the sides closer, ‘millimeter by millimeter.’”
Sport adds that the final hurdle to signing the new deal is not how much Neymar will be paid by Barca but how he will be paid, as all sides are desperate to avoid another tax issue.
