Speaking during Arthur Melo’s unveiling at Camp Nou, the former Barcelona left-back advised reporters to contact Hazard or his football agent for clarifications and opted to talk about Barcelona’s future transfer plans.
‘The club [Barca] does not make public announcements for players that are yet to sign contracts with us,’ Abidal said of the Chelsea player at a press conference.
‘At this time, only him the Belgian international footballer should answer such transfer questions…But when we eventually get him [Hazard] on Barcelona’s team list, you will definitely be the first to know.’

Abidal, 38, expressed happiness for Melo’s arrival and hinted that La Blaugranas are searching for more players to boost the team’s upcoming campaigns in both regional and global football.
‘We first analyze and respect the squad we have on our path to greatness,’ the former France international footballer said. ‘The team has changed from what we had last year and there are some tough decisions to be made.
‘However, Barcelona will reveal details when the players are confirmed and deals are sealed with their representatives and clubs.
‘Arthur is here for the moment…We are pleased with his talents and records. The decision to sign him wasn’t hard. His technical profile is very impressive…His game management, passing skills, ball control and vision are extraordinary despite his age.
‘Arthur is a future star. He will grow at Camp Now to become one of the world’s bests.’
During his football career, Abidal played for Lyon and Barcelona, operating as a central defender or a left back. He played in two World Cups and earned 67 caps for France.
