The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, Dr. Kelechi Anosike, has maintained that the faction of the party led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, remains the only legally recognised leadership of the PDP.
Anosike argued that recent judicial decisions have settled the party’s leadership dispute, insisting that members should accept the outcome and work towards strengthening the party instead of prolonging internal disagreements. According to him, continued disputes over the party’s leadership would only weaken its political fortunes ahead of future elections.
Speaking on the controversy, Anosike said:
“Only Wike-led PDP is recognised.”
He further contended that the legitimacy of the party’s leadership should no longer be in dispute, urging members to unite under the recognised structure to reposition the PDP for future political contests.
The Abia PDP governorship candidate also stressed that party members should focus on reconciliation and organisation rather than engaging in prolonged factional battles. He expressed confidence that a united platform would place the party in a stronger position for upcoming elections.
