These days it has become trendy for young couples to have wedding ceremonies in the old Chinese traditional style. This wedding was held in Chengdu, China on April 2. The bride’s name is Li Li Juan and her husband is Jonathan Ducourt.

It was a memorable wedding between a French man and his Chinese wife. The couple chose to dress in a full Chinese traditional regalia.

At the ceremony, as is in line with the custom, interesting traditional rituals were performed. These procedures demand that the traditional regalia must be properly worn; the bride must be received at the wedding ground in a bridal sedan; observing the bowing process is a necessity; and serving tea to each others parents crowns the wedding ceremony as successful.

The parents of the boy will have to pay money if figures that must have 6, 8 or 9 which represents good luck in Chinese culture. Depending on what amount is available to be offered, some parents can give 600; 6,000; 60,000…800; 8,000; 80,000… as a gift to the bride.

These numbers are considered blessings even for car owners who would pay through the nose to get car number plates with such numbers.

Traditional Chinese wedding customs have existed for thousands of years and there’s no sign that it will go extinct soon. It is a trend which has come to stay even in this modern day China.
