Leonardo DiCaprio celebrated one of the “best moments of his life” after receiving his first Oscar for his performance in The Revenant.

In appreciation of this memorable event in his life, the producers who had continually played ‘wrap-it-up’ song for previous winners granted Leo a chance to speak without the 45 seconds time-check.

In his words, ‘Making The Revenant was about man’s relationship to the natural world…climate change is real’.

‘It is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating.’

‘Let us not take our planet for granted,’ he concluded. ‘I do not take tonight for granted.’ What a joyful moment!

Finally: Leonardo DiCaprio used his Oscar win for Best Actor to deliver a lecture on climate change at the Academy Awards on Sunday night

The sweetest part of the celebration was when his Titanic ‘partner in crime’, Kate Winslet hugged him before he took to the stage to accept his award (Best Actor).
