It’s a fact that as humans, we all have excuses for being late, absent from work or taking leave at one point or the other. However, this becomes a problem for managers when employees show lack of concern for punctuality.
“Time is money” and every employer knows that but we face problems everyday in our lives which threaten to pitch us against organizational goals.
Although most managers try hard enough to show understanding, an employee is expected to put the organization first in order to get reasonable considerations when late, absent or on leave.
One dedicated worker had good reasons to record every excuse offered by his colleague as reasons for being late, over a period of one year.
He was considerate not to expose the information until his friend got fired.
The Redditor, who documented the events in a spreadsheet revealed all the ridiculous and overplayed excuses his co-worker used when he would be late if he even showed up at all. One thing about the records is, the sacked worker was very good at his excuses.
Diondrems works in tech support, a job that required him, and his co-worker, to be at work at 5 a.m.
Diondrems explained:
“He started in 2014 and was late almost every day for nearly 2 years before they decided to get rid of him. The times he was on time was because he was partying the night before and he’d usually sleep the first few hours of his shift.”
Diondrems continued:
“Im actually the reason he got the job. He worked with a friend at another job and it somehow came up that we had an opening.
“To make a long story short I gave my boss his resume vouching for him even though I had never met him. My position in our company is pretty chill so I’m not sure if they didn’t want to train someone new or what but yeah he lasted longer than a lot of people would at other companies.”
Sacking a worker like this one won’t bother him at all as he seem to have better things to do, don’t you think?
