A total of 15 people were killed in an accident involving a minibus taxi and a heavy-duty truck in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa on Sunday evening, local media reported on Monday.

According to provincial transport department spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, it is alleged that on the N9 road near Middelburg at about 11:00 p.m. local time on Sunday, a heavy-duty truck hit a stray animal and the driver lost control.
