Zelenskyy taking ‘insane steps’, Russia’s foreign intelligence service says

Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s sanctioning of an invasion of the Kursk region is an “insane step” that threatens further escalation, the Russian foreign intelligence service has said.

The service also said that its sources in the US are growing frustrated with the Ukrainian leader and that Washington “is looking for a replacement for him”.

Joe Biden’s administration has strongly supported President Zelenskyy since Russia’s invasion and there are no other suggestions that the US is seeking to remove him.

“Zelenskyy is taking crazy steps that threaten to escalate far beyond Ukraine,” the agency’s press office told state media outlet RIA.

The Ukrainian leader acknowledged the attack earlier this week.

“Ukraine is proving that it can indeed restore justice and ensure the necessary pressure on the aggressor,” he said.
