Zelenskyy pays tribute to soldiers killed in battle for Moshchun

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has paid tribute to the soldiers killed during the battle for the village of Moshchun in Kyiv two years ago.

The Ukrainian president took part in a ceremony today to honour the memory of the fallen defenders.

“It was in the battles for Moshchun, and nearby – in the battles for Hostomel, for Irpin, for other towns and villages of Kyiv region – that the fate of Ukraine and the Ukrainian capital was decided,” he said in a speech.

Some of the fiercest fighting during the wider battle for Kyiv took place in Moschchun in March 2022.

UNICEF: War robbing children of their childhoods

The war in Ukraine is “robbing children of their childhoods”, UNICEF has said, as it called for Russia to end its attacks.

The charity said children in Kyiv “woke up today to air alarms and explosions”. It added that a child was among those injured as missiles rained down on the capital.

“Schools were also reportedly damaged in Kyiv, and in the Kherson region which was also hit. The war is robbing children of their childhoods. Attacks must stop,” UNICEF Ukraine said in a post to X.
