The family of a woman who was held hostage by Hamas have said she developed a serious heart condition due to her treatment.
Hanna Katzir, 78, was captured by the Palestinian militants on 7 October from her Kibbutz Nir Oz home while her husband was killed.
Ms Katzir was reported dead by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad in November, allegedly killed in an IDF attack – but she was released as part of a temporary ceasefire deal days later.
Her daughter, Carmit Katzir, has now told Israeli media: “My mother’s condition is defined as serious.
“Her condition deteriorated following captivity. She was kidnapped without heart problems and now she has severe heart problems due to harsh conditions and starvation.”
Today, the Israel Defence Forces called on the international community to take “urgent” action to help bring home the remaining Israeli hostages.
Some 138 people are still being held by Hamas.
