The last day of the transfer window always delivers. Barcelona’s financial situation means they are thinking about free transfers and swap deals. And there could be a big surprise.
According to Esport 3 and confirmed by SPORT, Barça have proposed swapping Antoine Griezmann and Joao Felix to Atletico Madrid.
Barça first over, revealed on Monday, was to take Felix on loan, which was turned down by Atletico. However, they have made another bid: Griezmann for Felix.
Atletico have not responded yet.
The operation can only be completed if it’s a straight swap. That’s to say, no money is involved on either side.
Diego Simeone would be delighted to have Griezmann back at the club but president Enrique Cerezo is not convinced they should let Felix leave.
With just hours to go in the transfer window, it remains to be seen if this complicated deal can be pulled off.
