Atiku Abubakar, presidential aspirant contesting on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), shed a few tears on Friday at a programme organised by his supporters.

The political event was held to present Atiku with PDP expression of interest form and the presidential nomination form, according to Sahara Reporters.

Atiku broke down as one of his supporters lamented what she described as the current pitiable situation of the Nigerian economy.

The supporters, under the aegis of the Atiku Support Group (ASG), thereafter presented him with the forms, stating that it was another way of showing support for his candidacy.

The form cost N12 million.

Responding to the gesture, Atiku said: “Today has turned out to be one of the most emotional days in decades of my political career.

“The event today is significant, historic because this is the only time in my political career that young men and women in this country have come together, without my knowledge to contribute their own hard-earned money to buy this nomination form and expression of interest form.”

He thanked the ASG for the effort and restated his commitment to work towards developing the country in line with his campaign promises.
