A sad owner of a 6-year-old feline has confirmed that her cat Brigit has a history of theft which has become an addiction. The owner admits things have started to get “really, really weird” and out of control.
The said cat has stolen more than 60 pieces of underwear (all men’s) in a period of two months.
Altogether a total of 11 pairs of pants and 50 socks has been counted at her home in Hamilton East, New Zealand.
Brigit’s owner Sarah Nathan says the counted items are the ones available, there might some others hidden elsewhere.
It is believed that the cat strikes at night and her owner admits she is skilled at it.
Ms Nathan is apologizing to anyone who might have lost undies to her cat. She is posting leaflets around the community asking owners who are interested in having the pants back to come forward.
“It’s all men’s,” Ms Nathan told the NZ Herald. “It’s really, really weird. She’s got really specific taste.
“In our last house she’d bring home a bit of everything – she’d bring home men’s undies, women’s undies, togs, she even brought home a hockey shin pad and a jumper.
“She was much less discerning – now she’s decided menswear is the thing – and it’s a very specific kind of underpants that she likes.
“It’s an absolute obsession. A night does not go by without her bringing things home. I got up this morning and there were another four socks in the house.”
Luckily, Ms Nathan thinks the pants are all clean.
“They feel as if they’ve come off the washing line – they’ve got that crispy feeling.”
