Rooney will be happier at Chelsea Or Arsenal – Harry Redknapp

Harry Redknapp, the 69-year-old former Tottenham boss has suggested a smart move for Manchester United star Wayne Rooney. The coach who managed the Hammers for a period of seven years said it’d be an easy walk into first team action if the player makes a switch to Arsenal or Chelsea.

Rooney, 30, has played different roles at Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho tries out the team’s best tactics.

The captain has made great contributions to the team’s success, having proved himself a reliable leader on and off the pitch. But despite his efforts, Rooney has seen less of first team action since the start of this 2016/17.

Redknapp believes the former Everton star, who has been played deeper in midfield under Jose Mourinho, would excel at either of United’s title rivals.

“Wayne Rooney won’t take not playing at Manchester United for much longer. That situation is going to come to a head sooner rather than later if he doesn’t get back in the team,” Redknapp wrote in the London Evening Standard.

“There are certain players who thrive off (leaving a club) and Wayne might just need a new challenge.

“He would be a great signing for a couple of seasons and could have a major impact on a Premier League club.

“He could tip the balance for a top-four team if United were to let him go.

“I’d take Wayne at Arsenal or Chelsea and he has to play as a No.9 or 10 — midfield isn’t for him yet.”

In the event that Rooney decides to quit Manchester United, football analysts believe he’ll likely choose a life outside the English Premier League. The England international footballer will surely get mouth-watering offers from China and MLS.

Rooney, who is the Premier League’s highest earner on £300,000 a week, earlier publicized his decision to quit international football after the 2018 World Cup.
