Vietnam’s Communist Party nominates To Lam as state president

The Communist Party of Vietnam nominated Minister of Public Security To Lam to be Vietnam’s president, according to the Vietnam News Agency on Saturday.

The party also nominated National Assembly (NA) permanent vice chairman Tran Thanh Man as the assembly chairman.

Both are now Politburo members.

Lam, 67, has been the public security minister since April 2016.

Man, 62, has been the NA permanent vice chairman since April 2021.
