Vicente de Bosque Says ‘There Was No Need For Pedro’s Frustration’.

Vicente del Bosque hates to say that he wasn’t excited with Pedro Rodriguez going public over his Euro 2016 frustration. However, the coach says the outburst hasn’t created any divisions in his team, adding that Spain camp is a happy one.

Pedro had expressed his excitement over the weekend after surprisingly making it to the last 23-man squad representing Spain at Euro 2016 but his happiness was cut short after Bosque neglected him during the early fixtures.

The Chelsea winger followed up his comments by saying he doesn’t regret whatever he said about his situation. But Spain coach thinks he should have exercised a little more patience.

Vicente del Bosque spoke with AS and this was what he said: “I didn’t like what Pedro said though it wasn’t on our mind [against Croatia]. It can’t be said it influenced our game.

“We mainly have a healthy and friendly squad, it’s not a Sunday school but there is a great atmosphere. For that I thank the people who don’t play but behave well,” the Coach adds.

“It hurts me not to use Koke more, or Thiago Alcantara, or Marc Bartra, everyone. The behavior of our players has been spectacular, for which I will always be grateful to those who haven’t played.

“Pedro’s comments were unfortunate, perhaps that’s the most I can say.

“If we can get along that’s much better. We’re together for a month and a day and there hasn’t been a problem. We’ve had to make decisions, people have joined in stages and we’ve had to lose people who came here but were injured.”

When good players are made to sit and watch others play, that’s real frustration.

  13. That man made the worst mistake with Iker and Pedro at Euro 2016. He still can change the errors if he wants.

Stamp on his foot and ask him not to cry? He’s an adult for Christ’s sake. Give him some slack.

  15. Some coaches know how to frustrate players. Yet they claim ignorance. When you invite a footballer who has built reputaion for himself and have the hunger to succeed, why leave him out ?

  16. There’s always a Judas among any 12. It’s hard for coaches to make choices but if such are born by good intentions and is free and fair, then the players don’t need to be angry. It’s a matter of having one shot and proving to the world that you’re not fit for the bench. It could be a positive pain if seen in positive ways.

  17. Spain not as strong as it used to be with or without Busque. The Spanish team is one of the strongest by quality of players but it’s clear that they’re yet to find the missing link.

Wonderful story. This tells me that there are times our abilities will be underappreciated but what matters most is the persevering spirit to prove doubters wrong in the end.
