Veteran Brexiteer asks whether Cameron has converted to Brexit

The veteran Brexiteer Bill Cash now asks Mr Sunak whether he has received any assurances from Lord David Cameron – who led the campaign to remain in the EU as prime minister – is now pro-Brexit.

He says that while he wishes Lord Cameron “well”, he wants assurances that the former prime minster is now “fully committed to parliamentary sovereignty, self-government and democracy”.

Mr Sunak says he is “delighted” to give those assurances and that the government is committed to the opportunities of Brexit and will reply on Lord Cameron’s support.

That concludes PMQs  – James Cleverly, the new home secretary, will give a statement on the Rwanda judgment delivered today next.

Sunak repeats he is willing for legal overhaul after Rwanda ruling

Conservative MP Neil O’Brien asks the prime minister about overhauling legislation in the wake of the Rwanda ruling.

He says “isn’t it apparent” that what is needed to take control of UK borders “is a new law to override the Human Rights Act?”

Once again, Mr Sunak says he is prepared to address legislation.

“If it becomes clear that all domestic legal frameworks or indeed international conventions are still frustrating plans after that point, I am prepared to change our laws and revisit those international relationships because we are absolutely committed to stopping the boats,” he says.
