Ernesto Valverde, coach of Barcelona, appeared Friday before the media after two weeks of stoppage that have left his players injured and very little information on the club’s big men.
Speaking to newsmen about Gerard Piqué ‘s fitness level, Valverde said: “If I see him focused, he will play, but he will play another.”
Valvere talked about Piqué and his trip to Madrid because of the Davis Cup.
The coach made clear his position regarding the situation of the Barca player, telling critics to stay off their good relationship.
Earlier in September, Valverde says he’s fine with Gerard Pique’s extra-curricular activities – his involvement with the Davis Cup.
“There’s no need to worry, it’s not been bad for us with Pique,” said the coach. “It’s true he goes to some places, but we hope he has as good a season as he did last year.
“If in his free time he wants to watch a game of tennis, it’s his free time.”
