A short while ago, the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry released documents it claimed show the names of more than 7,000 people killed in Israeli strikes. 

The documents came after the US said it didn’t trust figures from Gaza.

Still, the US State Department has said Washington knows a significant number of people have died in Gaza but does not have independent confirmation of numbers. 

It added it does not trust the figures released by Hamas.
