The Tianjin power plant has recorded an increase from the initially reported number of deaths. China’s State Administration of Work Safety said Saturday that 22 persons have died as a result of the deadly blast which occurred a few days ago in Dangyang, Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province.

Preliminary investigations confirmed the fire was caused by a broken high-pressure steam pipe when workers were testing thermo-power facilities.
The plant and neighboring companies have been closed and a work safety overhaul has been launched in the city, Xinhua reported, adding that the administration has sent a work group to oversee the operation and conduct an investigation.
