Located within Winston-Salem’s vibrant visual and performing arts community, UNCSA provides gifted emerging artists with the experience, knowledge, and skills necessary to excel in their disciplines and professional and personal lives. UNCSA enrolls more than 1,300 students across its five arts schools, which include the schools of Dance, Design & Production, Drama, Filmmaking, and Music, as well as the undergraduate Division of Liberal Arts and the High School Academic Program. The Office of the Registrar maintains student records, oversees registration, records grades, provides transcripts, answers residency questions, certifies students for veteran’s benefits, resets PIN numbers for E-Z Arts student portal, provides enrollment verification, and facilitates graduation. Students with access to E-Z Arts, the student web portal, may their view class schedules and information on their student records.
Primary Description of Work
The University Registrar is the chief institutional officer responsible for managing the overall operation of the Office of the Registrar at UNCSA. The position reports directly to the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and works closely with students, faculty and staff, serving a full-time student population of approximately 1,400 high school, undergraduate and graduate students. The role provides leadership in the administration of student records, the planning, directing, and coordination of the Office of the Registrar, and the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Banner Student Information System, serving as the Banner Student Module Manager.
The role oversees and ensures the integrity, security, and maintenance of academic records for current and former students, manages the University’s registration and degree audit systems, the processing of transcript requests and the administration of FERPA compliance with associated staff training and systems maintenance.
The role is also responsible for course and classroom scheduling, course catalogues, transfer articulations, graduation clearances, and enrollment certifications and reporting. The Registrar develops and manages the departmental budget, provides commencement planning and diploma distributions, and prepares reports and analyses associated with student and course enrollments and degrees granted.

Description of Responsibilities and Duties

Emphasis on team-wide engagement, listening & support, and professional development to encourage continuous improvement are essential.
Enrollment Success & Student Support
The University Registrar will be a skilled, strategic, and detail-oriented leader focused on advancing student enrollment success. Efficient and innovative best practices, aligned with exceptional student-centered customer service, are key.
The University Registrar will:
Champion initiatives aimed at enhancing the students’ experience, with measurable outcomes related to enrollment, retention, registration, and graduation.
Collaborate with academic departments and administrative units to identify and eliminate barriers to student success. The University Registrar is a key member of the Enrollment Management team and will partner closely with the Office of Admissions, Office of Financial Aid, and various Enrollment Management partners.
Supervise the accurate and timely generation of reporting related to registration, graduation, and academic standing, in support of institutional enrollment and retention strategy.
Ensure processes that are equitable, accessible, and focused on student success.
Systems Management
The Registrar is the lead user and key decision-maker for UNCSA’s Banner Student Information System, including all reporting tools and analytics. The role will partner closely with the VPEM and Information Technology staff to ensure Banner and all affiliate systems are properly utilized and maintained, while contributing to practices that improve accuracy, efficiency, and optimization of all systems. The role also partners closely with Academic Planning and Institutional Research as a key data steward for the University, ensuring accurate and timely sharing of student data for planning and reporting purposes.
Policy Management
The Registrar serves as the steward of academic policies related to enrollment, records, grading, degree completion, and registration, providing clear accurate and timely communication with students, faculty, and staff. This role also oversees accurate maintenance and annual revision of UNCSA’s annual High School, Undergraduate, and Graduate Bulletins. The role serves as a liaison between the Enrollment Management team and various campus stakeholders to align policy with practice and serves as a primary point of contact for the UNC System Registrar’s affiliates. The registrar represents the Enrollment Management team in institutional groups and committees related to student success and enrollment stability. The position contributes to the planning and administration of the academic calendar and serves as a non-voting member of the Educational Policies Committee.
Compliance and Oversight
The Registrar oversees security, integrity, and compliance of all student records including FERPA, grading, academic standing, and degree progression/completion. The role guides the Registrar’s team on key academic processes including degree audits, graduation certification, course scheduling, registration, and all related technologies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Five years of previous administrative and supervisory experience in a Registrar’s office as a Registrar, Associate or Assistant Registrar.
- At least five years of experience with a fully-implemented Banner Student Module and Degree Words degree audit system or similar relational database with degree audit.
- Knowledge of UNC system academic policies a plus.

Master’s Degree preferred
Experience with Slate CRM preferred
Experience with Course Scheduling and Event Management Software preferred
