Andrii Melnyk, Ukraine’s UN ambassador, is next to speak after Russia’s ambassador, issuing a sharp rebuke to the preceding statement.

“Our territory and our sovereignty are not for sale. We are not at the Christmas Bazaar,” he says.

“Russia wants Ukraine to capitulate, as we just heard. Russia wants us to surrender. But my reply to you would be…You will get just a hole of a bagel.”

Melnyk also reaffirmed the need to “introduce massive secondary sanctions against all those countries who keep supporting Russia’s war-making machine”.

He said once the flow of “dirty money” heading into Moscow begins to dry up, “Putin will be the first to seek a ceasefire”.
