UK minister worried about safety in the Red Sea

Transport Secretary Mark Harper has warned “things may get more sticky before they get better” in the Red Sea.

His comment comes hours after the UK launched joint strikes with the US on Houthi targets in Yemen – for the second time this month.

At a Conservative Home conference in London, the minister said he had held meetings with senior shipping executives last week about the action, and they understood the ongoing issue.

But he echoed the words of the prime minister, saying the UK “reserves the right to take action again” if needed.
