Earlier today we reported how the Board of Deputies of British Jews had rebuked the FA for not lighting up Wembley Stadium in the colours of the Israeli flag.
It described the FA’s response to Hamas’ attacks – having players wear black armbands and hold a moment of silence – as “weak”.
Now the government has criticised the football governing body.
“I am extremely disappointed by the FA’s decision,” Secretary for Culture, Media and Sport Lucy Frazer said.
“It is especially disappointing in light of the FA’s bold stance on other terrorist attacks in the recent past. Words and actions matter.”
Earlier this week, the government projected the Israeli flag onto Downing Street.
