A Fort Bragg soldier has been charged with kidnapping and raping a fellow soldier in his Army unit, police reported.
Johnathan Simpson, 26, was arrested Friday for the alleged rape of a 26-year-old victim, according to the Fayetteville Observer. The alleged rape happened off-base, police said.
Simpson has been charged with first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping and sexual battery, police said. He is being held on $250,000 bail. Authorities have released no details of his alleged crimes, and the gender of the victim was not given.
A Facebook page for a Fort Bragg soldier named Johnathan Simpson lists him as a DeWitt, Iowa native who has served at Fort Bragg since 2009. He is listed as a sergeant.
The page says he married a woman in 2011, and his biography says: “I am married to the most beautiful girl in the world, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been before, even if I am in a third world country while working almost 15 hrs a day. I have her and thats all i need to keep pushing forward, she is everything to me.” But his relationship status is listed as “separated.”
Fort Bragg officials reportedly did not immediately return calls for comment.
