FG Proposes ₦1,350 Petrol Price Ceiling
The Federal Government has announced plans to introduce a mechanism aimed at limiting petrol-price volatility, with a proposed ceiling of about ₦1,350 per litre. Finance Minister Wale Edun said refiners and importers could temporarily absorb increases in fuel costs and recover the losses when international prices fall.
The proposal comes amid renewed pressure over rising petrol costs and their impact on transportation, food prices and household expenses.
NNPC Announces 30-Day Petrol Discount
The government has announced a 30-day petrol price relief programme through NNPC Retail. Under the arrangement, NNPC will forgo its retail profit margin, with public transport operators expected to receive priority.
The Presidency said the measure is intended as a temporary price-relief intervention and does not represent a return to the previous petrol subsidy regime.
