Sweden investigates explosive found at Israeli embassy as ‘suspected terrorist crime’

Police in Sweden say they are investigating an incident at the Israeli embassy in Stockholm as a “suspected terrorist crime”.

An explosive device was discovered outside the embassy on 31 January.

Sweden’s bomb squad detonated the object and there were no injuries or damage to the building.

“The criminal classification for the suspected crime is changed to terrorist crime due to grossly illegal threats and attempts to cause public destruction,” the security police, which is leading the investigation, said.

Sweden’s prime minister has called the incident an “attempted attack”.
