A surface-to-surface missile has been intercepted by Israel’s “Arrow” aerial defence system, the Israeli military has said.
In a statement, the military said the missile “approached Israeli territory in the area of the Red Sea” earlier today.
The statement does not provide details on the origin of the launch.
For context: Iran-backed Houthi militants have been launching explosive drones and missiles at commercial vessels in the Red Sea since November.
The group says the attacks, which have disrupted global trade, are in response to Israel’s offensive in Gaza.
The US and the UK have responded with strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen.
