The transfer which was sealed on deadline date August 31 remains a surprise as Everton was speculated to be the Frenchman’s destination.
The 27-year-old has finally had his dream of leaving the relegated side come true.
According to Independent, Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino was disappointed with his side’s second draw in the new season so he had a few hours to make some drastic decisions which favored Sissoko. Their game at White Hart Lane against Liverpool on Saturday ended in a 1-1 draw.
Confirming the deadline swap on his Twitter account, Sissoko wrote: “Very happy to join @Spursofficial for the next 5 years!”
Tottenham later announced in an official statement that Sissoko has completed a transfer to the club side in a deal that will keep the Euros 2016 star with the north London club until 2021.
Addressing the Spurs fans in a video on Twitter, Sissoko said: “I will give everything for you, for the team and I hope we will win a lot of games, a lot of titles.”
