One speaker at tonight’s Republican National Convention was released from prison this morning, NBC reports.
Peter Navarro, a former adviser to Mr Trump, was sentenced to four months of jail time for contempt of Congress after defying a subpoena in an investigation into the 6 January 2021 Capitol attack.

A House committee had been investigating the riots by Trump supporters and broader attempts by the former president to overturn his 2020 election loss.
When sentencing Navarro, the judge reprimanded him for saying Democrats were behind the prosecution.
“Joe Biden is not responsible for your prosecution,” said district judge Amit Mehta.
“It’s those kinds of statements from somebody who knows better that contributes to why our politics are so corrosive.”
Democrats scrap letter requesting delay to Biden nomination
Democrats urging the party’s national committee to delay nominating Joe Biden have scrapped their request.
A letter had been drafted saying it would be a “terrible idea” to stifle debate about the party’s nominee with an early virtual roll call vote.
But the letter will no longer be sent, a spokesperson for California representative Jared Huffman told NBC News.
This morning, a separate letter was sent to party members saying the Democrats would nominate Mr Biden in an early August vote, not in the coming days.
