Solskjaer: Pogba not going anywhere this summer

Manchester United brought their pre-season campaign to an end with a 2-2 draw against AC Milan in Cardiff, yet they did so without the services of Paul Pogba who was absent with a back injury.

In the face of fresh speculation about the Frenchman’s future, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in no doubt that Pogba will stay at Old Trafford this summer.

United’s creativity from midfield was certainly diminished without Pogba in the team on Saturday, although the disinterest he has shown throughout the summer tour when not in possession wasn’t missed.

“I have no doubt that Paul Pogba will stay at Manchester United this summer,” Solskjaer explained in his post-match press conference.

“He’ll probably be back training early next week, it’s not an injury but just some pain.

“I wasn’t going to risk anything this weekend; he should be okay for Chelsea.”

Despite suggestions that Zinedine Zidane was pushing Real Madrid to re-investigate the possibility of signing the former Juventus midfielder this summer, Los Blancos are waiting to agree a fee with Ajax for Donny van de Beek, with the Dutchman set to arrive this week.
