Sergio Ramos – I hope we don’t wait until the 90th minute to win

Real Madrid central defender Sergio Ramos says he hopes his team won’t have to wait until the last minute before scoring a winner. Zidane described the 30-year-old player as a reliable pillar in the squad.

The Spaniard has scored last gasp winners for Los Blancos on several occasions, winning both love and respect from Madrid faithfuls.

He [Ramos] scored an equalizer in their El Clasico at Camp Nou, and did it again against Deportivo La Coruna.

“I prefer that the team win before we reach those final minutes,” Ramos said in his pre-match press conference, according to a report from Marca.

“There have been circumstances where I have been important but Real Madrid would be calmer without needing that intervention.

“Whenever there is a possible title to win, as a captain I want to pick it up,” said the player who also scored a 2014 Champions League winner against city rivals Atletico Madrid.

“I have professional pride and it is a dream every time I imagine myself raising a trophy aloft.

“[On his fitness for the game against Kashima Antlers of Japan] I’m very well, have just completed a training session and I am at Zidane’s disposal,” he said.

“They [Kashima] have eliminated the best team in South Africa and South America, and are the most powerful team in Japan,” he concluded.

The match 2-2 at full time, and Madrid is currently leading with 4-2 [extra time].
