There was a “sense of immense relief” as the second round of Israeli hostages left Gaza last night, a Red Cross official has said.
Pascal Hundt was in the convoy of Red Cross cars that transported 13 women and children across the southern border and into Egypt.
It was an “extremely emotional moment for the hostages”, he told Sky News.
Describing the situation when the charity arrived, he said there was “hope when they saw the Red Cross” as they “understood they were about to be brought back home”.
Speaking from Gaza, Mr Hundt said the release was difficult to describe because it was “so charged emotionally” and an “incredible moment”.
He added: “Whenever we see this kind of moment, when people have been separated from their families for any reason, and now they know they will meet their family again, we were almost crying.
“It was a true moment of humanity.”
