SalamAir to Launch Direct Flights Between Erbil and Muscat

ERBIL– SalamAir, Oman’s national airline, will launch its inaugural flight to Erbil International Airport on Sunday, establishing a new air link between the Kurdistan Region and Oman.

Ahmed Hoshyar, Director General of Erbil International Airport, told Kurdistan24 that the new route reflects efforts by the Kurdistan Regional Government’s ninth cabinet to expand tourism opportunities and strengthen international connectivity.

Despite challenges facing the aviation sector across the region and the wider Middle East, Hoshyar said the airport was pleased to welcome the new connection, describing it as a bridge between Erbil and Oman.

He added that expanding flight options from Erbil would give travelers greater flexibility when visiting other countries. The route could also provide passengers with additional transit options for onward journeys to European destinations.

The launch comes as the Kurdistan Region seeks to strengthen its tourism sector and expand international travel links. Direct air connections can help facilitate travel for tourists, businesspeople, and members of the Kurdish and Omani communities, while offering passengers more options for regional and international journeys.

The new service adds another connection to Erbil International Airport’s network as it continues efforts to attract airlines and broaden travel opportunities for passengers.
